Monday mornings blow

Since I’m delinquent on my Pittsburgh half marathon haiku (only because it was a fantastic weekend with Jogging Jeans and Stride and Joy and there’s so much to cover), I asked Linda Bang for a Monday haiku. She submitted one that seems fitting for the week ahead and falls naturally under our mutual obsession with healthy bowel movements. This bird needs to lay off the ex-lax.

P.S. Is ‘dookie’ a word?

This is in response to Linda’s haiku Got The Four Mile Farts

Gas is not so bad
Lucky not seven mile shits

The anal sphincter

I am so excited about this post submitted by Jill at JoggingJeans.com – a site you MUST check out for running comedy. I don’t know anyone who hasn’t laughed out loud while reading this masterpiece. I think she should take over my site.

Started out queasy
Seemed to get worse with each step
Didn’t $hit myself

Another muscle
Sometimes strengthened by running
The anal sphincter

Poo

I have a friend who has been comfortable, and more open than most, talking about all kinds of necessary body functions. In fact, sometimes I think it’s an obsession. When I started running, I realized it is also something one has to legitimately think about and work around. So, today is dedicated to our favorite – poo. We each wrote one so continue scrolling past pictures to get to the second haiku.

Regularity
Do not run in discomfort
Empty your bowels

Well, what can I say?
Regularity is key
I love a good poop
